Ingredients

Scale

For the Agua Fresca

  • 6 cups seedless watermelon, cubed – The star ingredient that provides natural sweetness and refreshing flavor.
  • 2 cups cold water – Helps create a smooth, drinkable consistency.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice – Adds bright citrus flavor and balances the sweetness.
  • 23 tablespoons honey, agave syrup, or simple syrup (optional) – Sweeten only if needed, depending on the sweetness of the watermelon.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime zest (optional) – Adds extra citrus aroma.
  • 1 cup ice cubes – Keeps the drink perfectly chilled.

Optional Garnishes

  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Lime slices or wedges
  • Small watermelon wedges
  • Sparkling water (for a fizzy version)
  • Tajín seasoning on the rim of the glass
  • Fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Wash, cut, and cube the seedless watermelon.
  2. Add watermelon, cold water, lime juice, and optional sweetener to a blender.
  3. Blend until completely smooth.
  4. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve if a smoother texture is desired.
  5. Taste and adjust with more lime juice or sweetener if needed.
  6. Chill the agua fresca or serve immediately over ice.
  7. Garnish with fresh mint, lime slices, or watermelon wedges.
  8. Pour into serving glasses and enjoy cold.

Notes

  • Use ripe, chilled watermelon for the sweetest and most refreshing flavor.
  • Taste before adding sweetener, as watermelon sweetness naturally varies.
